Congrats, Immitter – a DEMO 2010 Spring Alpha Pitch Company!

Immitter As I write this, Immitter’s Co-founder, CEO and ActSeed Charter Member is probably on stage at DEMO 2010.  He’s likely impressing the investors there as his business has the potential to be a significant player in the music space.

Immitter is short for “Internet Music Transmitter”.  Jermain and his business partner Andre founded Immitter in 2008 to help listeners who are open to discovering hidden musical gems that may be currently overlooked by the major record labels.  Vast audiences are open to listening to aspiring musicians but they don’t have the time to spend hours sorting through hundreds of music profile pages on social networking sites to discover them.  Count me in, guys.

Imagine a Pandora-like promotion engine that broadcasts music from aspiring artists.  Independent musicians hoping to have their content heard must wait for people to stumble upon it some place lik Myspace Music.  With Immitter, aspiring artists can upload their original content onto a “transmitter” to be broadcasted according to specific parameters, just as Pandora does with music from labels.

For the first time, aspiring artists will have their content delivered on their behalf.

This is a service that independent, aspiring musicians are willing to pay a nominal amount for because it connects their original content to its target audience, which is the first step toward making the transition from aspiring musician to professional artist.  Jermaine and Andre aren’t just business entrepreneurs; they are also aspiring artists – the same kind they intend to help, so they have a first-hand account of the problem to be solved here.

Hopefully I’ve articulated their business well, but the Immitter team does an exceptional job of illustrating their business in this imbedded video:

Again, congratulations, Jermaine and Andre!
